WHAT IS PERMANENT COSMETIC MAKEUP?
The specialized
techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as “Micropigmentation” or
‘Dermagraphics”. The process involves implanting sterile pigments (color)
into the dermal layer of the skin. Custom colors are selected to
compliment your skin tone, hair and eyes. Permanent cosmetic makeup is a
safe nonsurgical procedure, which can restore or improve on the natural
youthful color that nature gave you and time has
faded. _____________________________________
WHAT TYPE OF PERMANENT
COSMETIC PROCEDURES CAN BE DONE?
Permanent cosmetic
procedures can be very subtle or dramatic depending on your desire.
Options include:
•
Eyebrows—Brows can be shaded, reshaped or recreated. •
Eyelash enhancement—Pigment is placed between the lashes only for a
natural looking enhancement of the eves and lashes. •
Eyeliner—Liner may include an eyelash enhancement and also includes
the area lust above the lashes for a more dramatic look. •
Lip Liner—Color to the lip line adds more definition to the lip,
may correct uneven textures or create more fullness and it will not ‘wick’
through surrounding creases as topical liners and lipsticks do. •
Full Lip Color—This procedure includes lip liner and adds color
throughout the lip. •
Beauty Marks—These can add interest to the face or be used as
camouflage for a small scar. •
Scar Camouflage—Color is added to soften & blend the white
(hypopigmentation) of a scar with surrounding skin. •
Areola Restoration—Restoration, balance or enhancement of
color on grafted or non-grafted areolas after breast
reconstruction.

ARE
PERMANENT COSMETICS REALLY PERMANENT?
These
procedures are considered permanent because the pigments are implanted
into the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. Some fading
may occur and color may be re-enhanced in a maintenance visit for less
than the fee for the original service. Re-enhancement may be needed every
six months to three years.
The amount and length of time that color will last depends on
factors such as age, skin type, condition of skin as well as the general
health and medication regime of the client.

IS IT PAINFUL?
The sensation of micropigment implantation
varies according to the individual’s pain threshold.
Topical anesthetics are used and nerve blocks (for the lip
procedure) are available by request from the supervising physician for an
additional fee. Some
clients report a “tweezing” or vibration sensation”. Most
clients report that the benefits of permanent cosmetics far outweigh any
minor discomfort that they may experience.

HOW LONG DOES EACH PROCEDURE
TAKE?
Consultations last approximately 30 minutes. During this visit,
questions regarding procedures are answered, a health history is
collected, and complimentary colors are chosen. Brows
or lip color may be drawn on with a topical makeup pencil. To better
determine the final placement of permanent color and to allow the client
to think over any possible changes before the procedure. For
camouflage work, a patch test for color accuracy may be done. A
patch test for allergies would also be done at this time.
Finally, pre and post procedure considerations would also be
discussed. Initial permanent
cosmetic procedures take approximately 1 ˝ to 2 hours.
Touches up procedures usually require less time.
Camouflage work can take more time depending on the size of the
area to be treated.

ARE
THERE ANY AFTER EFFECTS?
There is usually some swelling and tenderness
of the areas treated. The
eyebrow area generally, swells less than eyes and lips.
Swelling and sometimes a slight bruising will continue for 24-72
hours after the procedure.
Immediately after the procedure the color will appear much
darker.
The third to fifth day after, flaking will occur then the softened
color underneath will be revealed.
Although the surface of the skin may appear healed in 7-10 days,
touch ups are not recommended for 4-8 weeks to allow adequate time for
complete tissue
healing. ____________________________________
